A Step Outside

Today, I left the house to pick up a Target pick up order.  I found out that I needed to go inside, anyway, to get my order, so the point of pick up didn't work so well.  After going inside, I decided to shop.  I debated on whether or not to wear a mask, but only saw one person wearing one.  I spent nearly an hour in the store, and people were really good about keeping the 6ft social distance, for the most part.  I heard no coughing, or sneezing, which was good.  My cart was wiped down in front of me, which was reassuring.  I tried to "fill my cart" because I really don't want to have to go back to the store anytime soon.  Things are about to heat up even more in the next two weeks.  I wanted to go out one more time, before GA skyrockets.  As of tonight, GA has 4117 cases, and 125 deaths.  Albany, GA, has been hit really hard after a funeral a couple of weeks ago where the virus was spread to many people at the funeral.  The pastor who gave the funeral passed away afterward.  Doug told me today that the National Guard has been sent in to help get things under control.  We are now being told to stay home for another month to slow the curve.

Since Target had no toilet paper, I decided to go to Costco next.  It was around 11:30 by this point, and they had no toilet paper by this time, either.  We have plenty, but I was hoping to get more so that I can just literally, stay home, from this point on.  I ended up filling the cart again, literally to the top.  I would rather get extra supplies now, than have to go in when the virus is at its peak here in GA.  Doug looked at me like I was crazy, bringing all of these groceries home, but it's hard to remember what I've ordered, and what we had, and what we still needed.  We now have like 10 different types of bread products, as we were practically out prior to my outing.  We also picked up a curbside order from Kroger tonight, so we are loaded to the gills.  He was a bit overwhelmed with all of the food, so I told him that I would gladly give this responsibility over to him, because when I am trying to think on my feet, and avoid getting near people, and not knowing when I'll be back in the store, it's a bit much.  I did wear a mask in Costco, and probably one-third of customers were wearing them, too.

The media has been saying that it's not necessary to wear masks, as they have been saving them for hospital personnel.  Now, though, they are starting to change their tune, as this virus is so contagious, that it might be what's needed.  The problem is getting enough masks to provide citizens and hospital staff an ample amount.  I still had a few from our mold remediation, and a few from my prepper stores, but not enough to help out with the amount that hospitals need.  It's crazy to say that masks don't work because I used them in the hospital to prevent getting TB and other infectious diseases on the infectious disease floor.  I won't feel bad now if I wear one out, if I need to go out in the future.

New stats:  Worldwide-857,487 cases
US-188,633 cases with 3896 deaths (about 2% death rate)
GA-4117 cases with 125 deaths (about 3% death rate)

They are finding that younger people are not immune to getting really ill with this virus.  There was a healthcare worker who was 29, in great shape, who had to be intubated  and was hospitalized for 11 days.  He is recovering now, but this is not what was reported initially.

China is not being honest about this virus, the cases they have, how this started...I have a feeling that we will someday learn the truth behind this virus, but it may be many years.

The hot spots here right now are:  New York City, New Orleans (b/c of Mardi Gras), California, Washington state...Atlanta is a concern for a spike in the near future and Chicago.

We are praying for the Lord to remove this virus off the face of this earth.  I pray that people see the reality of their sin and cry out for repentance and asking Jesus into their hearts.  I can see that many people don't see it enough yet, aren't quite scared or anxious enough to see the writing on the wall (as Belshazzar did in Babylon).  Although, it was too late for him.  I pray that it's not too late for this country and the world to turn to the Lord.  I pray for a great revival through all of this.  Lord, protect us during this time and forgive us our sins in this country of plenty and abundance.  Let us look to you for our needs and make you a priority of our worship...our only desire to worship you.
