A lot happens in a few days...
The numbers have jumped a lot since 4 days ago... Here are the new numbers.
New York City is the epicenter of the virus, but it is spreading like wild fire everywhere. Trump is wanting to get the economy up and going again soon, but we haven't even hit a peak yet. Joshua's world history teacher emailed us yesterday, saying that she had the virus (diagnosed by symptoms). She went to the ER and they gave her the Malaria drug, which is theoretically supposed to help decreases the symptoms of the virus, and so I hope that she does well on the medication. They gave it to her because of her age, which I would guess might be around 60. People in their 30's and 40's are being intubated because their lung function is so low from the pneumonia. There is a 12 year old girl at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta right now with the virus. We are told that the virus can be attracted to hair and clothing, and so we should change our clothes and take a shower after going out to do errands. Cobb County Parks are now closed. Most restaurants are closed, other than take out. China claims to have gotten over the hump, but an article came out that they were hiding the truth and running electricity in factories to make it look like production was happening again. We probably will never know. The good thing about all of this is that it has made America realize how badly we need to manufacture our own supplies like masks and pharmaceuticals. Car plants are ramping up to make respirators. 3M is going to be making masks over here in the US. The news is talking about healthcare rationing...Italy is having to decide who lives and who dies because they don't have enough respirators and beds for their patients. Other countries are not helping them much because the whole world is in the same boat, if not soon. Samaritan's Purse sent a plane and supplies to help them, and China did send some doctors to Italy.
High risk people seem to be the elderly, cancer patients, people with autoimmune disease, chronic disease like COPD, diabetes, and asthma. So, that includes many in our family alone. We are trying to stay at home and be careful with packages coming. I'm waiting a couple of days to open them and wash my hands after I bring them in the house. We try not to touch our faces. It's a whole new thought process without being completely obsessive about it. Our family knows that God is in control, and they He has us in his hands. Our faith will carry us through. I am sad to think about those who do not know the Lord. I have posted a few things on facebook, hoping to reach friends who are not believers. I don't know if it's made any impact or not. There have been postings questioning whether we are in the End Times, or not. I wonder, too. We will not know the day when the Lord will come back, but we are told that there will be plagues, and earthquakes, etc. It's interesting that there was an earthquake in Salt Lake City a few days ago, and then one in Zagreb, Croatia just yesterday. People have turned their head away from God and worship materialism, and actors, and sports, and themselves...I am encouraged to see prayer being talked about online, and the president had a National Day of Prayer recently. I don't know what it will take to get everyone's attention, but right now, it seems like people just see this as a nuisance that they are ready to get past and go back to "normal". I hope that many many people will come to the Lord during this time. I don't want any more people to die, either. I just hope that this will be a wake up call to those who are so distracted by this life. We can't help but stop, and evaluate our lives and what's most important in it. Praying that this country and the world repents and turns back to God so that He will heal our land and will be our God once again in this country. I pray that people will once again love, respect, and fear Him.
